Be True to You Counselling

Offering Online and Telephone Counselling for Convenience, Flexibility and Accessibilty

People come to counselling for many reasons — anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, confusion, stress, relationship difficulties, trauma, life transitions, or simply a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever brings you, we’ll work together to build understanding, resilience, and self-compassion, helping you move toward a more balanced and authentic way of living.

We may focus on what is happening in the present, while gently exploring past experiences where this feels relevant to your current wellbeing, at a pace that feels safe and supportive.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I provide a caring, confidential, non -judgemental, safe and secure space for you to bring anything you want to explore.

You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan — just a willingness to begin.

Get to Know Me

My name is Ria and I am a registered member of the professional body 'The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy'.

I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We’re all shaped by different experiences, relationships, and ways of seeing the world, so my work is tailored to you — your needs, your pace, and your goals.

This allows us to explore both what’s happening for you right now and, where helpful, how past experiences may be influencing the present.

Above all, I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard.

I have been working in a variety of settings since 2017 providing therapy to young adults and adults. This has included local charities, NHS, residential homes and college.

I work with warmth, care, and respect, supporting greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and healthier ways of relating. It will be a privilege to be a part of your life on a short or longer term basis.

About Therapy

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) definition of counselling is that "Counselling occurs when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing or perhaps their dissatisfaction with life or loss of a sense of direction and purpose. It is always at the request of the client and no one can properly be 'sent' for counselling."

I work person-centred with you, which puts you at the centre of the work the whole time, with the focus being on the quality of our client and counsellor relationship.
